13 September (Monday)

My friends are here!

My brother Robert got to meet
Lorien, Mindy and Mindy's father Greg.  I had
thought Mindy's younger brother Bobbie, and youngest brother Raidon would be
coming too, but they're both in school.  Apparently this is a sort of "double
vacation;" mom and dad get a vacation from the boys, and the boys get a
vacation from mom and dad.  I got a hug and a kiss from Lorien and Mindy, and a
hug from Greg.  Ima, Mindy's mother, wasn't feeling well and is going to es
sister-in-law's doctor.

Mindy teased me about being Lorien's "hubby," and Lorien called me that once.
Apparently Mindy's family knows about our April fool's joke.  Lorien and I had
sent announcements that we were getting married with the announcement emailed
on April 1.  There were two different versions of the invitation: each of ours
had our intended's name as "Harlie Quinn."

I talked a lot to the family, and Lorien and Mindy insisted I will be going
back to California with them.  I wish I could, but I've got a situation here to
deal with, temporary disability, insurance, possessions, etc.  We went out to
eat and Lorien tried to convince me to drive, but I didn't--I don't like
driving with others in the vehicle with me in any case, especially people I
don't know really well, and want to drive by myself for the first time after I
became disabled.  But I may have to drive if I'm going to see them again this
trip.

Lorien is now 22.  Of Greg and Ima's kids, Mindy is 19; Bobbie (who didn't
come) is now 17 and getting close to 18; Raidon (who didn't come) is 13 and
close to 14.   It wasn't until I saw Mindy that I truly realized how long it's
been since I've seen the family.  It's been a little over three years, and
seems much longer.  But in some ways it doesn't seem long at all.

With Yvette's kids, Dan the eldest I didn't see and don't know es age; Allen is
21 and close to 22; Vickie is 20; and Josh is 17.  Yvette still lives with Tim,
who e lived with last time Lorien and Mindy came out; I'm not sure if they're
married or not.  Tim seems no more energetic than e was last time I saw em,
preferring to sit in es easy chair with a beer in front of the TV.  I think es
idea of a long trip is going to the kitchen for another beer.

I had thought my friend Jane's house would be much closer to Yvette's than
where I live, but I was wrong; the distance is very close to the same.  I'm
hoping Lorien and Mindy will get to see Jane and family this trip.

I told Lorien and Mindy about the roleplaying adventure I'm doing with Trollbug
on Wednesday, and they said they might want to participate.  But I talked to
Craven, and e said, "on Zaramac?"  E didn't say so directly, but I could tell e
didn't think it was a very good idea, and unfortunately I had to agree.  Yes,
it's only a game, but we're at a very critical and dangerous part of the game,
and bringing in a couple people who don't have a lot of experience with
roleplaying doesn't seem like a wise idea.  I thought they might be able to
participate in the tournament scheduled for next week.

I had also hope they might be able to participate with my group, but the
leaders are right now very resistant to visitors, and it ends up Lorien and
Mindy will be leaving before our next meeting and before the tournament anyway;
both are disappointing to me.

Ima got a prescription, and by the end of the day was doing much better.

I learned my friends came out in a motor home this time; before they used a
van, but this gave them more room although also lower gas mileage (I think Greg
said it was about eight miles to the gallon).  Apparently they don't own the
home, but someone loaned it to Greg with the agreement that e do free work on
it; one of the advantages of being a mechanic.

Yvette is noticeably different than when I saw em before.  E was impulsive and
vivacious; now e seems tired and irritable.  Tim is if anything less active,
more corpulent, and more demanding; I have a hard time even being around them
as the relationship is so obviously bad for Yvette.  Tim on the other hand has
a housekeeper, servant, and bed partner.  I'm going to try to talk to Yvette
alone, not to give advice as I've learned that generally doesn't work, but to
ask questions and hopefully get asked for advice.

Yvette and Tim's place is small, but fortunately we had the motor home.  Greg
and Ima slept in one bed, Lorien and Mindy in another, and I by myself.

You can read my

said I could make
comment on his
version.
;)  *Lorien*
The fake wedding
was totally fun. A lot
of my friends
believed it and were
like who's Harlie? lol
I just asked him if he
wanted to drive that's
all. We should have
kidnapped him!
I dont think they're
married. Harmony's
right because they
are totally wrong for
each other. Yvette
likes to have fun and
be spontaneous. Tim
doesn't want to do
anything.
Harmony would be
better for Yvette than
Tim. But he better
stay away from her!
lol j/k Really if he
married her then he'd
be Mindy's aunt!
Hamony was like
then I guess I'll just
sleep by myself then.
He doesn't want to
write what we gave
him cuz he's
embarassed. Read
my version to see
what we gave him.
